Some places are more than just restaurants—they become part of the community’s story.
For generations of Brandywine residents, Cedarville Carryout has been one of those places. Located along Cedarville Road near the railroad crossing, this longtime local favorite has welcomed customers for breakfast, lunch, and friendly conversation for many years.
Whether you’re stopping in for a breakfast sandwich before work, grabbing lunch on the go, or catching up with neighbors, Cedarville Carryout has become a familiar part of daily life for many Southern Prince George’s County residents.
The recent Brandywine MDcom video featuring the railroad crossing and Cedarville area generated hundreds of reactions, comments, and shares, proving just how much local landmarks and businesses mean to our community.
As Brandywine continues to grow and change, businesses like Cedarville Carryout help preserve the small-town character and sense of community that residents value. They remind us of a time when everyone knew their neighbors and local businesses were at the heart of community life.
Also Brandywine MDcom assisted in getting the railroad tracks repaired a few months ago and I noticed new potholes are starting to form.https://www.facebook.com/share/p/18kRGK7bxN/ Previous Update Shared on BrandywineMD.com and Associated Facebook Page:

Amtrak limits these trains to late night/very early morning runs and no more than 160 cars. The line is mostly single tracked, with long sidings in Collington, Upper Marlboro and Brandywine. The Legacy of Mama Cole’s CafeSome restaurants serve food.
Others serve a legacy.
Many Washington, D.C. residents may remember the original Mama Cole’s Cafe, where family recipes, hospitality, and community were always on the menu. Built through the hard work and dedication of Mama Cole herself, the restaurant became known for bringing people together over great food and warm conversation.
Today, that legacy continues.
Mama Cole’s son has reopened the family tradition in Upper Marlboro, carrying forward the values, recipes, and spirit that made the original establishment so special. The new location represents more than a business opening—it is the continuation of a family story spanning generations.
For many customers, a visit to Mama Cole’s Cafe is not just about enjoying a meal. It’s about supporting a family-owned business that honors its roots while creating new memories for the next generation.
Brandywine MDcom would like to congratulate the owners and staff on this exciting new chapter and wish them continued success as they serve residents throughout Southern Prince George’s County and beyond.
? COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT: Aquasco Cafe — A Local Landmark With Deep Roots
Some businesses are more than restaurants—they become part of a community’s history.
Many longtime residents may remember that Aquasco Cafe was once owned by George, the owner of Cedarville Carryout, another well-known Southern Prince George’s County establishment. Over the years, the restaurant has changed hands several times, with approximately five different owners operating the business since those early days.
Despite those changes, Aquasco Cafe has remained an important gathering place for residents, visitors, farmers, cyclists, and travelers passing through the heart of rural Southern Prince George’s County.
Today, under the ownership of Mr. Goad, Aquasco Cafe continues serving the community while preserving the small-town atmosphere that makes Aquasco unique. The restaurant has become a destination where neighbors meet, stories are shared, and visitors experience the charm of one of Maryland’s historic rural communities.
The history of Aquasco Cafe reflects the resilience of small businesses and the people who continue investing in our local communities. While ownership may change over time, the importance of having a local place to gather remains the same.
Brandywine MDcom salutes all the owners, past and present, who have helped keep this local landmark alive for the community.
