After nearly two decades and eight tries, Elizabeth Theobalds was sworn in as a district court judge in Charles County, MD., August 21, 2026.

Theobalds, Charles a former government’s deputy county attorney, applied for a judicial position in the district court four times and applied for a judicial position in the circuit court three times, she said, in a recent news story published by somdnews.com.
