Department of Public Works and Transportation for PGC Office of Community Relations, does not do a good of job when you request services, e.g. filling potholes as do Historic Town of La Plata, Town of La Plata or Charles County Government.
I requested several potholes to be filled in the 17500 – 17800 blks of Horsehead Rd. last month. P. G. Co. Department of Public Works, came out and loosely filled some potholes, half loosely filled some other potholes or didn’t touch other potholes. These pictures were taken on Horsehead Rd on 4/10/26.
Also potholes on Baden Westwood Rd., were filled in last month but some are still in need of further repairs due to poor roadway conditions that are crumbling due to age and lack of funds to replace infrastructure in District 9.
The Charles County Government, Department of Public Works, does a good job and will fill potholes normally within two or three days but incase of a tree blocking a busy sidewalk, it will remain for longer than a month. During last month storm several trees were blown down in the area. In LaPlata, MD on Rt.6 near Willow Ln. a tree had fallen from the woods and was blocking the sidewalk a day after a strom. I noticed the tree down at 8 am but by 5 pm that same evening, the tree was cut and removed by The Town of Laplata Department of Public Works.
The Charles County, Department of Public Works still has a tree blocking, Post Office Rd at Rt. 5, on the side of the 7/11. Several limbs were cut so it wouldn’t interfere with vehicle traffic but pedestrians still must walk into the street to get around the fallen tree on 4/10/26.
The Department of Public Works and Transportation for Prince Georges County were notified the day after a large tree had fallen on Westwood Rd. in Brandywine MDcom, Brandywine, Maryland on March 13th. A citizen that lives on Westwood Rd. and makes a living cutting trees and landscaping removed the tree, the same evening it fell. It was a blessing for myself and the citizens that lives in the area because P. G. Co. Dept of Public Works, would not have reacted that fast. A day after the storm several citizens put in service request to remove other dead or dying trees that are still standing in the area. The trees were marked with a red X on Westwood Rd. but still pose a safety hazard to the numerous walkers, joggers, bike rides, horse riders and vehicles that uses the roadways in the area.
Charles County Government is doing more than just filling potholes, they are replacing entire sections of roadway on Malcolm Rd. that needs to be repaved. They have problem areas on the roadway outlined with white markings. Prince George’s County, on Horsehead Rd. are just marking the potholes but they should repaved entire sections of roadway, like Charles County, on Horsehead Rd., Baden Westwood Rd. and Bald Eagle School Rd.
Maybe P.G. County, will mark off and repave sections of Horsehead Rd., Baden Westwood Rd. and Bald Eagle School Rd also, let’s hope so.
