I was unaware that the bridge (MD382- Croom Rd./Covington Rd.) was supported with utility poles and the metal support beams and poles are rusted, it is about time that the bridge be replaced and be rebuilt to todays codes. A two month detour is not unreasonable.
MD 382 Project DetailsStructure: 16043X0 MD 382 over County Line Creek, built in 1963, 19.75-foot single span.
Replacement: The existing structure is being replaced with a new 35 ft. prestressed concrete slab bridge.
I already avoid traveling on Covington Rd. due to the Holsinger Pit in the15700 of Covington Rd. The roadway stays covered in dirt, that falls off the dump trucks leaving the pit. The owners of the pits are not required to keep the roadway clear with street sweepers any longer.
Numerous dump trucks travel from the Holsinger Pit, onto Covington Rd., to Malcolm Rd., headed to Brandywine Rd. then to the Gudelsky Materials Pit on Gibbons Church Rd.
