Former School Property at 13101 Croom Road, the site previously housed the Edgemeade–Raymond A. Rogers Jr. School, a residential facility serving teenage boys with behavioral and emotional needs. On May 14, 2001, 17-year-old student Carlton Eugene Thomas died following a physical confrontation involving a staff counselor. Contemporary news reports stated that Thomas experienced cardiac arrest after being restrained. His death was subsequently ruled a homicide, and the counselor was charged with manslaughter and child abuse. In June 2002, a Prince George’s County jury acquitted the former employee of all charges.This tragedy happened approximately 25 years ago and was not connected in any way to Eby Health Services.
Eby Health Services purchased the commercial property at 13101 Croom Rd in Upper Marlboro, MD for $588,056 in October 2021. The 10.89-acre site includes a 14,076-square-foot former school building and a 4,141-square-foot warehouse/shop. Sub Type Special Purpose.
