Reminder GBACA – Greater Baden-Aquasco Citizens Association is having their 25 year community social. Come on out and meet their president Joanne Flynn and rest of their members, including myself Sean LaGrand.
I am the founding member of Baden Aquasco Nextdoor.com since 2006 and became the owner of Brandywine Maryland Facebook page and Brandywinemd.com in 2023, when I took over both platforms from Joyce Dowling.
Like I have stated back in 2006 I became the founding member of Baden Aquasco Nextdoor.com.
To establish a new Nextdoor.com neighborhood there are certain parameters you must meet. They are Invite Neighbors: Once the pilot neighborhood is created, your primary task is to invite other neighbors to join and verify their addresses. You can invite them via email, text message, or Nextdoor can mail invitations on your behalf. Reach 10 Verified Members: The neighborhood remains in “pilot” status until 10 members have joined and confirmed their residential address.Launch: Once 10 members have joined within the 21-day pilot period, the Nextdoor website “launches” and becomes a permanent, fully functional neighborhood where all features, including commenting on posts, are enabled. I heard about GBACA back in 2006 and figured I could get ten members easily by attending the meeting explaining a little about Nextdoor.com and asking the members to join. GBACA had a different President at the time but most of the other members are still around and active members today. Back then not one of members agreed to join to Baden Aquasco Nextdoor.com, the neighborhood I was attempting to create. I had to creat flyers and drove around placing the flyers in neighbors mailboxes, talk to local churches and I was able to get 10 members in 21 days.
Things have changed for the better since then. Baden Aquasco Nextdoor.com has over 1k members and Brandywine, Maryland has over 1.6k members. We are a community now with GBACA, The Croom Community Farmers Market, local wineries owners, R&D Cross of Brandywine and many others. So please come on out and attend both events if you can.

Subregion 6 Minor Plan Listening SessionsThursday, November 13, 20256:30 p.m. 8:00 p.m.Subregion 6 Minor Plan Listening Session – November 10 & 13, 2025I’ll be attending the Subregion 6 Minor Plan Listening Sessions hosted by M-NCPPC to help shape the future of development in Clinton, Tippett, Accokeek, and Brandywine. These sessions are an important chance for residents to share their priorities and vision as the County updates the 2013 plan to reflect today’s realities and tomorrow’s needs. So much of District 9’s future, its housing, transportation, and environmental sustainability, will depend on how this plan is shaped. I’m looking forward to hearing directly from neighbors about what responsible, community-driven development should look like.Learn more here: https://www.pgplanning.org/projects/minor-amendment-to-the-subregion-6-master-plan-and-sma/Session 1: Tuesday November 11th – 6:30-8pm at Upper Marlboro Community CenterSession 2: Thursday November 13th – 6:30-8pm at Baden Community Center
